Phillip Domfeh

Director, Screenwriter, Producer

Phillip Yaw Domfeh is a writer, director, and producer based in Los Angeles, with strong ties to Portland, Oregon. He currently serves as the producer of Disney’s Launchpad, a groundbreaking shorts incubator program that nurtures emerging filmmakers from underrepresented backgrounds. In 2024, Phillip was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Short Form Series – Comedy or Drama for his work on Launchpad Season Two.

Before joining The Walt Disney Studios, Phillip was an executive producer of the 2019 AT&T Mentorship Program, where he collaborated with Emmy® Award-winner Lena Waithe and Rishi Rajani to mentor rising talent and produce five narrative shorts starring Dascha Polanco, Loretta Devine, and Rob Morgan.

Alongside his wife and creative partner, Priya Domfeh, Phillip co-founded Cosmic Otter Productions, a filmmaking collective dedicated to genre-bending, socially resonant stories. Their debut short film, Rudeboy’s Restaurant, was financed by Little Ugly, Vimeo, Dolby Labs, and Ghetto Film School through the 2019 Emerge! Filmmaker Lab, and premiered at the 2020 American Black Film Festival.

Their follow-up short, Cary in Retrograde, premiered at the inaugural 2021 ABFF Comedy Festival and won Jury Awards at the Austin Film Festival, Buffalo International Film Festival, and Nashville Film Festival. Phillip is currently developing the feature-length adaptation of Cary in Retrograde, a music-driven comedy inspired by his early career as a conservatory-trained vocalist navigating the entertainment industry.

Through his work, Phillip is committed to empowering new voices and building pathways for the next generation of artists, especially those from historically excluded communities.
