Megan Ashley Alan

Screenwriter, Director, Producer

I grew up in a small, wet Pacific Northwest town with many days spent at the local cinema. Raised on the magic of movies, I set off to film school in sunny L.A. and returned just as soon as I could to gray skies and people who opt for the rodeo over Rodeo Drive. Luckily, I landed in the queer, creative haven of Portland, Oregon. Armed with a film degree and patchy knowledge of Final Cut Pro, I bought a DSLR camera and spent the following 15 years making videos for anyone with an idea & access to Cash App. Let's just say if Craigslist had a production company, I was a principle crew member.

Along the way, I started a real production company for small, women-owned businesses and somehow got asked to make a documentary about Portland strip clubs. Directing & producing my feature film, ‘CHEERS! Portland, the Strip Club Capital of America,’ has been my most rewarding project to date.

A graduate of UCLA's Professional Program in Screenwriting, what lights me up these days is writing comedies that embarrass my parents.
