Katherine (Kate) Morris

Screenwriter

I’m Kate Morris, from Portland Oregon. Up until a couple of years ago, I was a liver and pancreas cancer surgeon and scientist at the University of Oklahoma, but I’ve had a lifelong love for storytelling, visual arts, and Portland in that order, so I made the tough decision to leave a profession I loved to go back to school through workshops, extension courses, and pretty much any craft related book I can get my hands on.
I write conspiracy thrillers, near-future science-fiction, dramas, and body horror, often with a side of comedy and always with a strong female lead.
I also adore T cells, math, visual arts, and cats.
I'm also an activist who sued the State of New Mexico on behalf of my patients (Morris v. Brandenburg), and was privileged to use these experiences as an advocate an advisor on Here Awhile starring Anna Camp, Steven Strait, and Joe Lo Truglio. I was featured in the Sundance Award winning documentary, How To Die in Oregon.
