Cambria Matlow

Matlow is an Oregon-based director, writer and editor who illuminates personal intimacies and political truths through relationship to landscape, play with peformance, and focus on time.

Her award-winning feature documentaries WOODSRIDER and BURNING IN THE SUN, have been selected for IFP’s Documentary Lab and Independent Film Week, broadcast on Al Jazeera and PBS, released digitally, and screened in festivals worldwide. NO MORE DOPE PARTIES, her latest short, was a participant in NW Documentary’s Canopy Stories anthology, and played to sold-out audiences through the Portland Film Circuit.

In 2016 she received the inaugural Oregon Film/PLAYA screenwriting award; other grants and residencies include Signal Fire, LEF Foundation, Brooklyn Arts Council, Experimental Television Center, Puffin Foundation, and RACC. Among her projects in development: a new doc about identity and loss within her family, and a feature script about teenage Mexican sisters set in the Oregon high desert of 1855.

As an editor, Matlow works on narrative and documentary films, commercials, music videos and branded content. She’s recently trimmed frames on Alicia Rose’s experimental feature A KADDISH FOR BERNIE MADOFF, Couch Collective’s latest short AGAIN AND AGAIN, and Lindsay Trapnell’s upcoming narrative SEAFARER.
